The Challenge of Agribusiness and its Potential in Mexico

Abstract

This study examines the growing role of agribusiness in Mexico and its potential to transform the country’s agricultural landscape. Agribusiness encompasses various activities, from the production and marketing of agricultural products to the provision of related services such as logistics and technology. In Mexico, a country with rich agricultural traditions and significant challenges in terms of productivity and competitiveness, agribusiness is emerging as a key opportunity to drive economic and social development. This study analyzes the factors driving the growth of agribusiness in Mexico, including the increasing demand for food, access to new technologies, and the expansion of international markets. Additionally, it explores the challenges and opportunities faced by stakeholders in the sector, from small-scale farmers to large agribusiness companies. The article concludes by emphasizing the importance of policies and strategies that foster an enabling environment for the development of agribusiness with the aim of harnessing its full potential to boost agricultural productivity, generate employment, and promote social inclusion in Mexico.
